Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the largest, single offshore wind supply chain contract award in New York State to support the State's Sunrise Wind offshore wind project. Ørsted and Eversource, Sunrise Wind's joint development partners, signed a $86 million supply chain contract with Riggs Distler & Company, Inc. to construct advanced foundation components for wind turbines at the Port of Coeymans, bringing construction and steel manufacturing work to New York companies located in the Capital Region and Western New York, and creating 230 family-sustaining jobs.

On May 12, the American Clean Power Association (ACP) and the New York Offshore Wind Alliance filed supplemental comments with the U.S. Coast Guard regarding the Northern New York Bight Port Access Route Study (NNYB PARS). The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), which joined NYOWA in filing extensive comments on August 28, 2020, during the original comment period, merged into ACP on January 1, 2021. NYOWA Co-Sponsors American Clean Power Report: Offshore Wind Development Could Generate $4.5 billion in Federal Revenue
December 8, 2021, — NYOWA has joined in American Clean Power Association’s release of a major study of the economic benefits of future offshore wind development in U.S. coastal waters, including in the area off the southern shore of New York State known as the New York Bight. The study conservatively estimates that the federal government will realize between $2.7 and $4.5 billion in upfront lease sales, operating fees and rents through the identification, leasing and development of additional areas to support offshore wind development sufficient to meet existing state targets.
