ACE NY’s Renewable Energy & Jobs Tour

On August 25, 2020, ACE NY, Solar Energy Industries Association, American Council on Renewable Energy, and American Wind Energy Association hosted a successful (virtual) tour across NY showcasing renewable energy, jobs and building back greener!

ACE NY’s 3rd Annual Renewable Energy Tour attracted over 170 participants. The virutal tour was sponsored by Assemblyman Michael Cusick, hosted by Assemblywoman Patricia Fahy, with comments by Senator Kevin Parker, Chair of the Energy and Telecommunications Committee.

This year’s tour featured a virtual video of New York’s wind power, solar, hydro, and offshore wind facilities, plus a panel discussion with industry leaders. It also delivered another event connecting New York policymakers to the job creation and economic benefits of the growing wind and solar industries in the state. New York’s ambitious 70% renewable energy by 2030 standard will require significant new in-state wind and solar development, which will require upgraded and expanded transmission.

On a panel hosted by local legislative leaders, wind, solar, and hydropower developers and owner/operators highlighted the economic benefits of existing and future projects. Their presentation was followed by a lively question and answer session with local policymakers, including representatives from both chambers of the New York Legislature, staff from NYSERDA, NYISO, the Department of Public Service, the New York Green Bank, and local sustainability organizations. These decision makers were also joined by renewable energy developers, labor representatives, academics, and local utilities.
